The exam is remotely proctored via webcam and screen sharing:
- Webcam required — Your face must be visible throughout the exam
- Room scan — The proctor may ask you to show your workspace with the webcam
- Clear desk — No papers, books, or devices on your desk (except your computer)
- Quiet room — No other people in the room
- Government ID — Required for identity verification before the exam starts
- Screen sharing — Your entire screen is shared with the proctor
Copy-Paste Shortcuts
These keyboard shortcuts work in the exam terminal. Memorize them — they save significant time:
| Action | macOS | Linux/Windows |
|---|---|---|
| Copy | Cmd + C |
Ctrl + Shift + C |
| Paste | Cmd + V |
Ctrl + Shift + V |
| Select all | Cmd + A |
Ctrl + A |
Warning: Standard Ctrl + C sends a SIGINT signal in the terminal (kills running process). Use Ctrl + Shift + C for copying text.
Multiple Cluster Contexts
The CKA exam uses multiple clusters. Each question tells you which cluster context to use:
# Every question starts with something like:
# "Use context: kubectl config use-context cluster1"
# Always switch context BEFORE starting a question
kubectl config use-context cluster1
# Verify your current context
kubectl config current-context
Exam tip: Forgetting to switch context is one of the most common reasons for losing marks. Always run the context command provided at the top of each question.
Pre-Exam Checklist
Before your exam starts, verify:
- Stable internet connection (wired preferred)
- Webcam and microphone working
- Government-issued photo ID ready
- Chrome or Chromium browser installed
- Room is quiet and clear of unauthorized materials
- Desk is clear except for your computer
- Phone and other devices are out of reach
- You have logged into the exam platform 15 minutes early
- System check passed (bandwidth, browser, webcam)
killer.sh Practice Environment
Your exam purchase includes two free sessions on killer.sh, a CKA simulator:
- Each session gives you 36 hours of access to a practice environment
- The questions are harder than the real exam (by design)
- Completing killer.sh with a score above 50% means you are likely ready
- Use your first session during study, and your second session as a final mock exam
Tip: Do not waste your killer.sh sessions too early. Wait until you have completed at least 80% of this tutorial before activating your first session.
