CKAD — Resource Management

less than 1 minute read

Resource Management

Every container in Kubernetes can be given resource requests (guaranteed minimum) and limits (maximum allowed). Getting these right is critical — too low and your app crashes, too high and you waste cluster resources.

This chapter covers the Application Environment, Configuration & Security domain (25% of the CKAD exam).

Topic What You’ll Learn
CPU & Memory Units CPU millicores, memory suffixes (Mi, Gi), binary vs decimal
Requests & Limits Setting requests/limits, what happens when exceeded
QoS Classes Guaranteed, Burstable, BestEffort — eviction priority
LimitRange & ResourceQuota Namespace-level defaults, max/min constraints, quotas
Monitoring Resource Usage kubectl top, metrics-server, node capacity
Hands-On Lab Resource labs with 5 practice questions
